Perfume Bottle

Perfume Bottle

This is a bottle of "American Girl" perfume that I borrowed from a friend’s daughter. I played with a couple of studio strobes at several angles with the bottle on a black piece of plexiglas until I settled on this shot, which is made a bit more colorful by the use of some colored glass Christmas ornaments.

Foil Paper

Foil Paper

This is the overhead lighting being reflected and refracted by a sheet of foil paper from the craft store. I bought it as a possible interesting background for an unknown future macro photo, but I find the refraction more interesting by itself.

Perforations

Perforations

This is a macro shot of the front of my aluminum external hard drive enclosure. The power/activity light is a blue LED. There’s very little ambient light, but what there is provides the orange tint.

2006 Pontiac Solstice

2006 Pontiac Solstice

This is my 365-day photo blog’s inaugural shot. I’m busy with many hobbies and projects outside of work, but if I make and effort to post one photo a day, that goal will push me to be creative when I’d otherwise just find something else to do. Wish me luck in keeping up with this, and enjoy my photos. Also, please add comments if you have any. (Thanks to Shutterbug Cel for the 365-day blog idea.)

This car belongs to my friend, who asked me to take care of it while he’s on a 1-year work assignment out of the country. The image was (over)processed using the Tone Mapping option in Photomatix Pro, which gives it a somewhat unnatural look.
