Chalet Deck

This was the view from the back deck of the chalet at Tamarack where we spent the weekend before Christmas. Notice the extremely warm look of the foreground structure and the cool look of the snowy trees in the background. It almost looks like I used a CTO gel on the flash, but I didn’t. In fact, this scene might have benefitted from a CTB gel on the flash just to cool down the wood a bit. I’ve never tried that, but it seems like a plausible idea.

Wooden Bridge

This was the view last week from beneath a wooden bridge (probably concrete and steel wrapped with wood) at the Tamarack resort near Donnelly, Idaho.

Tasty Treats

These are some of the yummy holiday treats from one of my friends at work. The cool colored background that doesn’t tint the subject is a trick I learned from Strobist, a blog I read regularly for great tips on lighting with strobes.

Ribbons

While the Christmas holiday is technically past now, I still have a pile of relevant photos to post before I move on to non-holiday themes. Fair enough? Okay, here are a couple of laser-etched mylar ribbons that I thought looked cool in the macro lens.
