Splash Two
Same setup, different take, converted to monochrome.

Same setup, different take, converted to monochrome.

Shot through an acrylic tank, this is a couple of clear plastic “jewels” dropped into water. Yellow strobe on the background, blue strobe and white strobe on the foreground.

No, it’s not smoke, it’s more light painting. This is a 10-second exposure at f/16, during which I waved a flashlight in front of the camera.

Experimenting with long-exposure light painting. The spirograph pattern is generated by the same device featured on Day 58, and I painted the rest with a laser pointer during a 10-second exposure at f/22.

I don’t know what it is, but when I find one in my studio, the first thing I do is stun him with a portable bug zapper. Then I take his picture while he ponders what happened to him. Finally, when his photo session is over, he is, shall we say, retired.

Shot using the same technique as the spinning quarter, this handful of French coinage was dropped onto the surface. There were four firings of the flash as the coins bounced and spun, which created the illusion that there were more coins that there really were.

This is a single quarter, spinning on a reflective surface, and captured by a series of 4 firings of a flash during the 1/4 second exposure. This is the best shot out of many dozens of takes.
