Railroad Ad #2

This sign was on the same building, right next to yesterday’s post, and suggests the types of products you should expect to find on their price list. Some parts are a little harder to read, but here’s what I see: “SPUDS FEEDS GRAIN BEANS MEATS TOOLS TWINE PAINT OILS.” If you see anything different from my interpretation, please leave a comment.

Railroad Ad #1

This faded and weathered sign was found facing the railroad on the back of a building near the Caldwell Depot. It was probably an effective advertisement in its day, as it was easily seen by anyone on the south side of the train. Of course, it wouldn’t do much good without the store’s address. Maybe that was painted above. In case it’s not clear to you, the sign says, “Write for a price list today.”

Dharma Logo

LOST fans will recognize this as being strangely familiar. It looks a lot like the various logos used on LOST for the Dharma Initiative. It’s actually a piece nailed over the doorway at a Chinese restaurant in Caldwell. The center part appears to be a mirror. I looked up information on the Dharma logos and found that the fictitious symbols were based on the Taoist bagua, and I don’t know what that is, but I’m guessing that this is a picture of it.

Caldwell Depot, Revisited

I came back when the weather was a lot nicer.

Sad Cupola

I decided to join the Cupola Club and get one last shot of this building before it’s gone forever. They must have plans for the materials that they’re taking away, otherwise I would think it would be cheaper to just bulldoze the whole thing.

day179

Caldwell Depot

Taken in Caldwell, Idaho, this was shot with a super wide-angle lens (10mm) from a low height with the camera tilted upward, which explains the keystone distortion. The color was warmed up a bit from the dull original, shot on a very gray day.
