No Banks
You won’t be pulling your canoe up to the sandy banks of this river, at least not here.

This is just one of the many photo-ops we kept finding along the drive across Oregon.

This image was processed by Photomatix from a single RAW file in order to bring out more detail in the sky and snow.

As we made our way around the west side of Crater lake, I was shooting like a madman, and predictably, I ended up with many similar shots. I weeded out the boring ones and arrived at three favorites, which are all fairly similar and shot from more or less the same place. The differences are in composition and orientation. This is the first of three.

I almost called this bird a Bluejay, but then I Googled it and found out that this isn’t a bluejay. Perhaps some bird-nerd can identify it for me.

There is very little human access to Crater Lake, except for a few guided tours of Wizard Island at certain times of the year. I guess that’s the purpose of the docks you can see in this image.
